It’s obvious how frustrated home dehumidifier purchasers are based on all the horror story reviews on literally every home dehumidifier brand.Once a home unit fails, it’s logical to consider replacing it with something more rugged, more repairable and more long-lasting, which means a small commercial unit like the Argendon Xstorm Max.I did extensive research before choosing this unit. Based on its excellent design, material and build quality, it’s 5 year warranty and the great Argendon customer service team, I think it would be appealing as an alternative to anyone who has been disappointed with the low quality, the low capacity and the short useful lives of even the most expensive home-specific dehumidifiers.PROS:Build quality is significantly better than any of the hundreds of dehumidifiers designed for home use.The machine is repairable—parts are available from the vendor, the shell of the unit is easy to remove, and the system layout is well-designed. If/when necessary, the pump can be replaced, as can the motherboard.Customer service is outstanding. The Argendon CS team is U.S.-based, take phone calls, respond quickly to customer requests, and to a person are professional and highly-informed. I’ve been dealing with them for a while. They stand behind their products and are easy to work with.This dehumidifier prioritizes simple robust design. There is no WIFI module, (but there is apparently capability to add WIFI if dehumidifier manufacturers ever succeed in developing reliable, easy to connect to WIFI which they have not yet done), all the hardware is heavy duty and designed for rugged use. The unit works with smart plugs so can be turned on/off from anywhere in the world.The control panel is also simple and rugged. On/off, manual running of the pump and a few options for running the unit based on ambient level of humidity covers most of the controls.When running, the unit has a deep throaty sound that is slightly louder than that of most of the larger home-specific dehumidifiers, but since the sound is deeper, less bothersome and annoying.The unit itself is fairly compact and easy to move around, with a robust handle and wheels, along with grab handles.Dehumidifying capacity is more than triple that of large 50 pint home-specific dehumidifiers.Comes with a FIVE YEAR limited warranty, not the 12 month warranty of virtually all home-specific dehumidifiers.CONS:The single greatest CON is that this unit is louder than the majority of large 50 pint home dehumidifiers. You have to be willing to put up with a louder unit to garner the benefits of a repairable, higher-capacity, more rugged and longer lasting dehumidifier like this one.~~~~~~~~~~~~All in all, it may be out of the box thinking to use a commercial dehumidifier for the home, but for many home users the benefits will outweigh the negatives.

Unit works well and keeps basement dry. Screen stopped working 8 months after purchase. Unit never moves and only sits in one spot in my basement.Update. Customer service sent me a new screen that’s currently working.
