Very useful tool
The measurements are all relative, so it is easy to use to find leaks, or wetness in a wall without opening it up. Saves a ton of finish work later. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

I had a water leak I needed to check. I checked the drywall using wall setting. I also had a leak detection company check it with their $700 meter. We were within 1% of the same readings at different sites on the wall. Also for masonary (block) it is accurate. Do not know about wood. Very easy to use

The drywall in my house is a lot less moist than I expected. You can tell where studs are with this because they will have higher moisture.

Neoteck Pinless Moisture Meter Non-Destructive Wood Moisture Meter Wood Moisture Detector with LCD Display Sound Alarm for Walls, Drywall, Wood, Masonry, Woodworking, Plaster, Floor, Concreteyears ago i used a pin meter to test wood for painting. i lost that old trusty meter and found this one. it is a lot fancier than my old one. which was a tube two pins and a dial, you turned the dial till the red light blinked. i am old. anyway, this one is alot fancier and fun to use. i like the display i like the ability to fine tune to different substrates. i cannot confirm accuracy but having used a meter for years i have a sense of expected values and this didnt show me anything that surpised me. i am not exactly sure how it works i think my old pin meter measured conductance and knowing the values the little computer in its head gave you a percent based an algorhythm. i have no idea how a pinless does its thing. it must be a similar process just not as deep. so my advice–without and science to back me up– use with a grain of salt as the outer layer of a substrate is constantly exchanging vapors with amibient air. the interior little bit is where the moisture is going to lie. so while this can probably give you a baseline it inherently probably wont be as accurate as a pin meter which can get the values inside the substrate. but again, its better than putting your hand on it and feeling for temperature.

Die Ersteinstellung machte Mucken, war nahe dran das Ding zurück zu schicken. Nachdem ich die Batterien entfernt und das ganze nochmal gestartet habe ist der Knoten geplatzt. Es reagiert bei der Messung schnell, die Visualität ist gut (wenngleich es bessere Lösungen dafür gibt). Wichtig war mir, dass es mit Mignon Batterien bestückbar ist (AAA statt Blockbatterie). Die habe ich nie zu Hause und sie sind teuer). Optimal ist, dass die große “HOLD” Taste (Wertspeicherung) gut erreichbar ist und die Messung quasi blind (an uneinsehbaren Stellen) durchführbar ist (es macht keinen Spaß in Bodennähe oder hinter Schränken zu messen und abzulesen). Natürlich durchforstete ich vorher die Rezensionen nach relevanten Themen (Sterne gucken reicht nicht). Nun kann ich das Teil auch empfehlen. *Ich kann den Bautrockner jetzt in Abhängigkeit der größten Problemzonen systematisch einsetzen. Das ist wegen der Größe der Räume, bzw. der betroffenen Wandstrecke vorteilhaft (wir haben einen Wasserschaden bei dem sich die Feuchtigkeit unten an den Wänden entlang um die Räume herum saugt). Zu verdanken habe ich das Ganze Bauleitern die nur wenig mehr vom Fach verstanden als ich Bau-Volldödel. Dann gibts noch “Murphy”, der sich alle kleinen und großen Fehler merkt, die notwendigen späteren Zufälle damit so intelligent verknüpft, dass eine Banalität (undichte Zusatzwasserpumpe) viele Jahre später daraus einen maximalen Schaden generiert. … Und ich? Früher liebte und pflegte ich Wassersport. Jetzt suche ich Wasser in den Wänden und rolle einen Blechkasten durch die Räume um es aus den Wänden heraus zu holen. Das ist wirklich mein letztes Haus, seufz.
