Accurate Detection. With this stud finder wall scanner, you can quickly find wiring, pipes, metal or wood as deep as 2 inches into drywall or plaster without making any extra holes.
Step one: Choose the Mode
Press ON/OFF button to open the stud finder,and choose one mode that desired
Step two: Calibration the tool
After choose the mode, press and hold the scan button( on the side of the tool) to calibrate this tool.
Step three: Scan on the Wall
Move the stud finder along the wall slowly,but note that if shake or lift the scanner accidentally, the device needs to be re-calibrated.
Step four: Find the Location
When the signal bar is full and the beep alarm is loudest, it means you have found the center of an object.Mark it with your pencil.
Which stud finder is best? Are electronic models better than the magnet ones ?
Answers aren’t the same, but Povlen electronic stud finders are more precise at locating studs than magnetic ones, as for accuracy, ease of use, and features both in isolated, objective tests. Please use it according to the user manual.

Accurately located studs for me,
I have used this detector twice in the last 5 month to install garb bars. I can attest that it performs very well, finding studs behind drywall very accurately. As the instruction stresses, it must be calibrated frequently to keep it accurate, but once it is done you can trust it. I drill 2” holes to install the Ghostud I have been using, and I can see through the holes that location this detector identified is very accurate. I am basically using the 1” mode. I also tried the metal and live wire modes, but did not find anything, so I cannot say about those features. The battery shipped with the detector is pretty bad, lost all power after 5 month. But once changing into a good battery it performs beautifully.

Wasn’t new…
Based on how the unit looked out of the box, I suspect that it was a return. The photos don’t show nearly as well as in person, but you can still see that the screen not only had no protective film, but also has what appears to be finger smudges. And the ‘pads’ that float against the wall are dirty, with particles of who knows what embedded within them. Disappointing since I purchased new and not used.It comes with a battery installed, which is nice, and it turned on with no problem. I’ve yet to read the long set of instructions to see what all of the functions are and how they work, but I did try out a simple stud search and it appears to have nice accuracy, with a side note* (more on that next).Another negative is the way the unit feels while swiping it across the wall. The pads are made of what I can only describe as one half of hook and loop (Velcro). It’s not very smooth at all, and the feel of it when swiping it is ‘off’. *It’s a little scratchy against the wall and I believe you do lose some accuracy as a result because instead of a nice smooth run, it ‘jumps’ a bit from being ‘scratchy’. It’s like using an optical mouse when you need to pinpoint something really small on your screen and should have a laser mouse. Hope that makes sense.If I find any issues or find that it has some great features, I will update my review at a later date.

Great at finding studs through plaster & lathe.
I buy stuff expecting the product to work. And sometimes I buy stuff knowing it can’t be any good at this low price. I’m happy as heck when the stuff I figure can’t work, really does work very well. And this stud and live electric finder works great. Really does show a graphic on screen when it finds stud, and does arrow the center point of the stud. It really does find live ac wires. It’s solid, the instructions are in very readable English. It’s amazingly accurate at find studs even through plaster and lathe. It has a great well built sturdy feel to it.I am amazed, for $22, really amazed. There is only ONE THING TO REMEMBER!!! The instructions mention several times you have to recalibrate the thing EVERY TIME it finds a stud or ac line. This is no problem at all, just a thumb button you hold down for about two seconds until it beeps. That’s it.I’d buy this again in a second. One of the best tool purchases I’ve ever made online period, let alone on Amazon. One last thing, it finds studs through walls of various thickness. 1/2, 1″, 1.5″. You tell the thing the closest wall thickness to one of these three settings and it finds the stud. Frigging great!

Bad Battery
The stud finder works as designed, however, I had to provide my own battery as the one included was damaged and read ‘zero’ using a volt meter.

Hit or miss accuracy
Will there ever be an easy to use, dependable, accurate stud finder? This one is just ok. The Stud Finder Wall Scanner Detector – 5 in 1 seemed to work great at first, but then we were missing the nail into the stud. Used a Walabot and got different results. I guess I’ll use both and pray not to have a wall full of holes. It is made well and easy to read display if that helps.
