You won’t be disappointed!
Great moisture meter! It was easy to use and read the results. There are settings for a lot of different types of wood and will be very useful for many different applications.

No more guesswork
This is an amazing product! I am very thankful to the hobby carpenter (of 40 years and his work is anything but hobby level) who recommended this too me without a moment’s hesitation. There are so many meters on the market that finding one that is reliable is difficult. It works amazingly well, with two levels of depth capability, in both metric and standard measurements. The handy wood species card, with corresponding settings in the meter, makes measurements a cinch. While the price is a bit daunting, the saying, “you get what you pay for,” is very true.

Accurate as compared to other moisture meters used at sawmills and kilns
After I bought this SDM moisture meter I found out that 2 of the sawmills and wood kilns use the same meter. They both told me it was a great meter. We compared some readings from my meter and their meters and they were very close. This may be a little more than needed for a serious hobbyist but you buy it once and trust it. Other reviews from some of the other company’s moisture meters didn’t sound so good.I really like the idea of selecting multiple wood types, ¼ and ¾” depth, and pinless.I had this in my Amazon cart for several weeks. The price changed every couple days, sometimes up, sometimes down.

Great unit but a bit pricey
I purchased this unit about a month ago and have had some time to use. It is very easy to use. All you have to do is set the depth and code number of the type of wood you are checking, place the unit on the wood and it will tell you the moisture content. There are two depth settings 1/4 and 3/4. The code number comes from a nice laminated card that comes with the unit . I have tested hickory, oak, cherry and walnut. The results have been very consistent. The unit works very well. The only negative is the price and this is the reason I gave it a 4 stars

Nice Meter for woodworker. Easy to use, right out of the box.
I’ve been air drying (2 yrs) some white oak slabs, about 2 inches thick. Didn’t know if I should trust my pin type meter, so I tried this one. I set it to White Oak, 3/4 deep, and took readings between 9% and 11%. That’s about right for air drying in New England. With a kiln, I could finish drying to the recommend 6%, but I’m gonna go ahead and mill it as is. This meter was easy to use right out of the box, and gave me confidence to proceed with this batch of boards we worked so hard to (chainsaw) mill.

Wasn’t accurate
Although I used the correct conversion codes for the exotic wood flooring I was installing, the apparent moisture level between the new wood and the subfloor and other in-situ wood items was obviously waaaay off. I now have up to 3/16” – 1/4” gaps between my floorboards, whereas when they were installed, they were tight with no gaps anywhere. This isn’t my first wood floor install, but it is the first time I relied on a moisture meter instead of just waiting an extra month to ensure equalization. This turned out to be a very costly and unsightly mistake. I wouldn’t even have bothered, but I had a hard deadline of “before my son is born” to have the floor completely done and ready for him to come home to his nursery. Every time I go upstairs, I have to look at this failure and wish I could go back and undo it. Thanks, unreliable moisture meter.

work great, good price
so far so good.i used to have a $400 wagner that measure from 5-30. it works fine until my windshield got smashed in and took it away.i bought this one because it was a little cheeper and it was a new company. a little skeptical at first, but it works fine.it reads fine. i mostly used it for hardwood like oaks and maples and this is more than perfect for the job.the quality of the hardware just feels a little cheep for a product made in the us, but then again. the price was quite right.i would recommend this to contractors, it takes the guest work out of any moisture reading situation.

Excellent Value
I am a woodworker who has many board feet of various species that have been air drying, some as long as 15+ years. Accurate moisture content is critical in furniture construction. Lignomat has an excellent reputation for quality and that coupled with a competitive price makes this a great value. It is easy to read and use and I am confident it is accurate.
