Reliable Workhorse for Restoration Pros
I run a water damage restoration company and added the Storm 80X to my lineup recently. It’s compact, easy to move, and pulls serious moisture — rated at 80 PPD (AHAM) and 170 PPD at saturation. The built-in pump works flawlessly and saves tons of time on jobs without floor drains.Startup is quick, controls are simple, and it auto-restarts after outages. Noise is minimal compared to other units. Solid build with a durable shell and good GPP readings.For the price, it’s a great value. I keep this one in the back of my truck for stabilization when I first get on site and extract water.

Solid ! Durable!
I needed a commercial grade dehumidifier that could run 24/7. This one has a solid, heavy build that feels durable. It’s easy to operate, and the instructions are simple to understand. The fan and motor run quietly, and you can tell it’s working effectively based on the amount of water it collects. The price is reasonable.I’m giving it 3 stars because I expected it to run 24 hours straight, but for some reason, it always stops after about 9 hours of operation. I really want to keep this dehumidifier because of its quiet motor, but this issue is disappointing.

Highly effective “beast” of a Dehumidifier
I purchased this machine to replace residential dehumidifiers which would only last between 5 and 18 months. When you first unpackage this machine, it is easy to see that it is a heavy duty “beast” by comparison. If you are just trying to use it without the remote access app, you can just plug it in, set the humidity level and place the drain hose and go (as with any standard dehumidifier). The machine is about 50% larger than most residential units and weighs a hefty 99 pounds. However, the large wheels make it easy to maneuver, including over stairs if you are careful. Since the dehumidifier includes a pump to empty the water, it will pump the water as much as 15 feet uphill, through a hose which is about 20 feet long.So what makes this unit stand out from others? First, there is the free app which connects via WiFi or direct. This allows you to access the controls anywhere you have internet access. Through the app you can control the humidity (target) level setting, see the humidity level and temperature at the intake and output, review the number of working hours, the age of the filter, coil temperature, and any error codes. Additionally, you can empty the water reservoir, and initiate a location tone (useful for contractors who may not be familiar with the device’s location). There are several other functions which are probably only useful for contractors including chamber list, work plans, equipment list and drying data. Second, the machine has more capacity and is more efficient (i.e., removes more water from the air per KWH of electricity used) than most residential units. This unit is spec’ed at 2.85 Liters/KWH. It’s able to dry the air in almost half the time of most residential units. Third, the display is easy to use but provides a lot of info (e.g. humidity and temperature of both intake and output air).What could be improved? Connecting or binding the unit to your network / phone is confusing. I highly recommend ONLY using the detailed instructions in the app. Don’t rush the process and read EVERYTHING the app puts on the screen carefully. It may take several passes to understand what to do, but once you understand what needs to be done and do it all in a single pass, it works. Once connected though it works flawlessly. The other major con is the price. Without a doubt, it is an expensive machine. It costs about three times the price of other residential units, so I am looking for this unit to last at least 5 years in order to break even. Only time will tell if it is worth the price. While I don’t normally see the value in extended warranty for most equipment, my history with dehumidifiers shows that purchasing a 3 to 4 year extended warranty is a worthwhile purchase.

Super effective dehumidifier
This dehumidifier is incredibly effective. It’s fairly compact, but once you see how much moisture it pulls from the air—especially in a large area—you’ll appreciate just how powerful it is. We connected it to drain directly into our sump pump pit using the tube which is over 19 feet long making it completely hassle-free and low-maintenance.We placed a humidity monitor in our large basement, and within an hour, we noticed a dramatic drop in humidity. On a day-to-day basis, it keeps the entire space dry and comfortable. The built-in wheels make it easy to move between areas as needed, which is a great bonus.What really stands out—aside from its performance—is how hands-off it is. The auto on/off and memory restart features make it worry-free, even during power outages or when we’re not around. I highly recommend this unit if you’re looking for a reliable, efficient way to keep any large space drier and more comfortable.

Great dehumidifer!
This is a wonderful dehumidifier. I programed it and it just runs. It’s quiet and does the job. My basement is dry, no dampness at all. You will notice your electric bill is higher, but no dampness or moisture is worth the cost. I am confident there won’t be any mold or mildew.

Nice Unit – Didn’t Work for Us!
This seemed to be a nice unit. With it being on wheels would be very handy. However, we received one that wouldn’t work for us, and the WIFI/App wouldn’t work. I wish it would have. Contacted the company, and they were nice, but confirmed they had issues with the App that would need some work. They told me to send it back for a refund. On the other hand – returning to Amazon was a nightmare. They received the item and kept putting off the refund. I spent several hours trying to get the refund straightened out, but still have not received the refund as of today about 2 1/2 weeks after they received it back! Their customer service is going down hill fast. I will dispute the charge on my credit card. Not a very happy customer 🙁 !

This thing has Power! It’s exactly what we needed for our shop area, every year we had been struggling with the humidity and dampness of our basement shop area. We had purchased acouple different humidifiers in the past, but they just weren’t strong enough. We decided to make the investment to get one that was actually going to have power… and this did not disappoint!!
