Used this tool on a 16 ft deck works very well allowing one person to secure the board and keep it in place all at the same time. Time and labor saver

Decent tool that adds some convenience.
Fair warning – you’ll have to reference the listing images to assemble this, as it doesn’t come with any instructions of any sort. It’s not hard, just two pins and you’re good to go. The tool could probably be a little better than it is, as it can be a bit fidgety to get set just right, but it is a lot easier than having to mess with blocks and crowbars or whatever other solution you may come up with. Sometimes, the tool wanted to slip a bit on the wood, but it was more helpful than not having it. It got me through my project without any visible wear and tear, so it seems like it’ll hold up to plenty of use. The price seems a little high, but it provides enough convenience that it may be worth it for you. At the end of the day, it got the boards straightened as it should, so I have no real complaints.

It was poorly designed, have to use effort to get it to sit on the board and then when you used leverage it slipped! Needs a grit and more clearance, don’t waste your time or money!

This really needs to include instructions or at least a picture of it assembled. I spent way too much time trying every combination and a few times going back to the advertisement to figure out how to get it to work. It does appear to work if you can figure it out and if your joist boards are exactly the right size but I ended up just prying/pushing the deck boards in place by hand.This time I had wasted too much time with a tool that kept slipping and wasn’t doing any good. I tried it a couple more times after the actual job was done and never did get it to work. It’s likely user error but without any instructions it’s just a frustrating piece of metal.

Works pretty good. A little fiddly.
This a steel lever to help align/position deck or platform boards. It’s intended to work with single joists. It won’t fit on anything wider than 2 1/2″. If your deck surface material isn’t perfectly straight this will help you force it into place. It works fairly smoothly with one hand, which frees up your other hand to install fasteners. It’s light and feels sturdy.I spent the day working on an outdoor platform. It’s a temporary structure, so 2×4 is all I needed to use for the surface. None of it was straight and this actually performed pretty well to get these boards lined up. It’s certanly worth having on hand if you plan on any decking projects over joists. Would recommend.

A great tool to have with lots of potential usage.
This is a good addition to your tool arsenal. It has awesome potential to get things done. Something so simple are sometimes the best tools.Sometimes the boards are warped and twisted. This tool and a board straightener, a square, and some extra hands of some best of friends are all the tools you need. Lost cause lumber and friends still has a value!There is a learning curve to using this straightener, but once you start using it, you’ll be a pro in no time.The top part of the tool, with the fingers has 2 options for the thickness or required force needed. Good to have options!There are no instructions included to assemble this tool, so you’ll need to come back to the purchase page to grab the visuals for assembly. Its so simple though. Cotter pins are on the top.For what the tool is, it is a decent value.So glad I found out about this tool. Its going to get well used.

It took me a few tries to figure out the assembly and how to use it. However it has worked very well so far. It has saved me a lot of time from trying to find alternate ways to straighten the deck boards, and from constantly measuring to ensure that the boards are being installed parallel to themselves and to the edge of the deck.

I used it to pull in curved deck boards. It worked well for that.I did have a couple of minor issues. There was no instructions included with it so I had to look up this type of tool on the internet to see how it properly went together and was meant to work. The handle also started to slip off after a few uses, so I found I was always adjusting it to keep it in place.

This tool is a top-quality version of a time-tested design, which makes quick work of straightening warped decking boards. There are other ways of achieving the same task, but using a tool like this is quick, consistent and doesn’t damage the joists or deck boards.Made of carbon steel with solid welds where others might use spot welding and protected by a durable powder-coating finish, I expect this tool will last a lifetime, even with regular use.The one I received has no issues with the handle being or becoming loose. I find the textured handle provides a good gripping surface. Operation is pretty straightforward and adequately displayed within the listing photos, although if unaccustomed to using such tools there may be a short learning curve while using for the first time.The narrow gap between positioning posts is for planed two-by lumber, while the wider gap is for rough-cut two-by lumber dimensions. It will be of no use on doubled or tripled joists.
