They do not open and close with ease, after very little usage.
I wanted to love these box cutters, after reading the reviews and seeing they had a lifetime warranty. However, just like most of the cheap box cutters, after only a few uses: maybe two weeks, using them every other day to open standard boxes, the prong to pull the blade in and out gets stuck and is super tight, making it frustrating and difficult to open and close. Years ago, I had a box cutter that never got stuck. I had used it for a few decades, used up the blades that came with it, and threw it away because it looked so scratched up and old and figured it was time to get a new one. Boy was that a mistake! I wish I had simply bought new blades for it. That was around 2016, and ever since then, I’ve been unable to find a high quality box cutter that glides open and closed with ease, with long-term/regular use. The only positives that I can give these box cutters is they’re easy to hold/grasp with a smaller palm (I wear a glove size 6.5), and they feel durable, like they don’t break open ever. But, the main purpose is to easily open and close the blade for use, and they do not serve that purpose. My husband suggests I take them apart and use WD-40 on them. And what do I say about that… With a product I’ve only owned and barely used, for 2 weeks, I shouldn’t have to take it apart to lube it up for it to work. Frankly, I shouldn’t need to ever do that, if it’s built right, which my former, quality box cutter, proved. I just don’t know if anything on today’s market is good quality anymore. This is the 5th kind I’ve tried and not liked. I cannot recommend this set of box cutters, even with a lifetime warranty, because it would be a hassle to return and get a new set every 2 weeks in order to have easy use. That’s ridiculous.
