Custom sized & well made
I really appreciate the ability for custom sizing. This one was 11’x29’. I had been planning on making my own shade sail for a lot more money before I found this. I just finished putting it up over my clear roofed solarium that gets very hot in the sun. I wish I had ordered a foot larger in each dimension now for a little better coverage. It is hard to figure out the exact sizing it needs to be for something this large, with stretching and needing to account for hardware. But overall I am pleased. I wish there were a few more colors to choose from, but the green looks nice enough. It seemed very well made and sturdy putting it up. Glad it has the stainless cable reinforcement. My turnbuckles were almost giving out from the tension, but the shade was not phased. I thought I would not be able to tighten in enough to keep the middle from sitting on the roof, but it cinched up nicely with the turnbuckles for ample clearance.

Overall good. Cable not continuous
These are goods sails overall. Purchased two. First one went up with no problem. Second one the cable didn’t tighten up on one side and cable kept coming out more around drings on that side. We felt along the seam and found cable was separated. Contacted company and they said to return to Amazon. This system does not have a solid one piece cable that goes around the whole edge. It is two pieces of cable that are joined together at opposite sides. It appears that the one side was not crimped and pulled apart. Company did not say how these were joined so this is just what I am guessing since I couldn’t find a crimp, just a gooey protective coating around one end of cable. We do like the sails and hope the one that is up and the replacement one that comes hold up. We have had other shade sails without the cabling on the edge and the one up seems more stable. I will update if any changes.

Sturdy sail.
Works on a boat dock with heavy prevailing winds. Cable reinforcement makes all the difference. Takes a lot of tension to set the shape properly, and not easy to install, so watch a couple of installation videos if this is your first. Also, we suggest buying heavier hardware than what’s offered in the “installation kits” sold here. They’re just not capable of handling conditions that this sail stands up to. That said, it’s a great shade sail and worth the extra money. Holds up under pretty extreme conditions (60+ mph winds here). Not waterproof but knew that buying it. Waterproofed it ourselves with a silicone / mineral spirits “bath”. No color change.

Pergola Cover
Excellent! Material and hooks/rings are very heavy duty! Fit perfectly to our pergola just like we expected. We got a custom size and had no issues. Received very quickly also. Highly Recommend!

Poor quality control; arrived with multiple holes
This was my second purchase of the same product. The first one lasted us four years until the sun got the best of it. Based on that positive experience I ordered a replacement assuming it would be of the same good quality. To our disappointment it came with multiple holes along one of the edges. Unfortunately I failed to inspect it upon arrival and waited too long before installing it. I won’t be ordering from this product again

Can Be Tricky To Measure
The sun shade can be tricky to measure, depending on your application. I ended up ordering 3 sails. The first sail(black) was about 6 inches too wide, so I couldn’t get it as tight as it needed to be. The second sail (brown) was too small width wise. The third one(beige) is close, but I still need two more feet from the center for a perfect fit. SMHI could write a book on my installation. I originally bought 4 X 4 posts. I changed my mind and replaced them with a 6X6 post. I’m sure the 4X4 would have worked, but I didn’t want any regrets later. My post measured 10’, 8’, 6’ and 2’ in height. I put the 10 and 8 foot poles 3 feet underground. The 6 foot post 2 feet underground and the 2 foot pole 1 foot underground. This variation in height created a hyperbole. FYI. I used cement to bury my post plum and there is no way the sails or wind will cause the post to bend inward. My pool is under an oak tree that drops acorns and leaves in the pool daily. Each day I look at that 100 year old oak and think to myself, “You have to go”. Anyway the sun sails are a temporary solution to keep some of the debris out of the pool for now.Two key points are: Make sure you add 2 ft to the width and length when ordering. For example, if you have a rectangle that measures 10 ft. in width and length and want to cover the perimeter, then order a sun sail with at least a width and length of 12 ft. When you tighten the sail, the center will bow in at least 2 ft. At least mine did.The other point is to make sure your posts are at least 1 foot away from each corner of the sail. You will need the extra space to tighten the sail correctly. If the sail is too long, you will not be able to get it as tight as it should be.Lastly, I would order the reinforced hooks, if I needed a really tight sail. The fabric is also denser. If you don’t need the sail to be particularly tight, order the one with the regular hooks. To help illustrate how the sail bows when tightented, here are rough measurements of my sails:When tightened the brown reinforced sun shade width hook to hook is approximately 12’6”. From the center it measures 9’. I ordered (12w’X16L’)When tightened the beige sun shade without the reinforcement hooks width measures 13’9” hook to hook. From the center it measures 11’3”. I ordered (14W’X16’L)Lastly, I bought a hardware kit with the turnbuckles from Amazon and it was a total waste of money. Buy yourself one ratchet strap to tighten each end and whatever hardware you choose to attach to the post. I found that a ratchet strap worked best to tighten the sail with minimal effort. When you go buy your post, buy the hardware.

Do not purchase from colour tree. They sell globally / internationally and claim to have a premium product with 5 yr warranty on a 24ft x24ft shade sail i purchased. It came with a defect which I reported immediately upon receiving. Just shortly after a few months it started tearing on the edge. They advised it’s cover under warranty when I got in touch. They agreed to send me a new one however I must pay $300 shipping. This is absolutely unacceptable and more than twice the amount they charged to send it the first time to Australia which was $130 aud. The box was small and reasonably light – 2-3 kgs or so.Clearly their warranty is a fraud and there is no full disclosure and will happily leave you without any effort to rectify such issue.I have a smaller locally purchased shade sail that is 4m x 4m and purchased for approximately $79 aud from Bunnings 4 yrs ago. No defect at all in this period and still going strong. The colour tree product should be superior compared to the locally sourced shade sail but apparently not.
