Horizontal laser with built-in stud finder and wall mount, that’s been proven to last
This is my second Bullseye laser level from Black & Decker. My first one lasted close to 15 years before it started giving out. I hesitated to replace it due to the high price I’d seen previously, but when the price dropped to $54 and even lower during Prime Day, I picked it up again without hesitation. If it lasts anywhere near as long as my first one the value at this price point is fantasticSure, there are newer models out there with 360-degree projection and vertical line features, but none had the exact combination that made this one worth coming back to.First, I wanted a laser level that could be temporarily mounted on the wall without me needing to hold it or use adhesives. This one uses a small pin system that leaves a hole no bigger than a thumbtack and keeps the device flush against the wall. No messy stickers or large nails.Second, I didn’t want to carry a separate stud finder. This model includes a built-in stud sensor that also detects electrical wiring. That’s a major convenience during any wall-mounting job, and I’ve found it works consistently well without needing to switch tools. It’s size allows me to have a comfortable grip, and it’s weight is perfect for incremental movements. The auto-leveling horizontal laser is simple to use and accurate enough for home tasks like hanging shelves or aligning pictures. I like it’s design of using a circle right on line with the laser for you to be able to mark off where you’ll insert the mount and feel confident that when you hang it on the wall your measurement will be exactly where you wanted it. It lacks vertical projection, but for my needs, the combination of laser leveling and stud detection in one unit is more important. If you value convenience, easy mounting, and built-in safety features like live wire detection, this model still holds its own even after all these years.

On the level!
Great product! I was shopping for a replacement stud sensor after my old one bit the dust after 10+ years. Came across this model which offers both a stud sensor, wire detector and laser level, so thought I’ve give it a shot. Very glad I did – it works very well for all tasks.Bear in mind that a stud sensor is just measuring the density difference in the wall. It’s not an x-ray machine, nor is it magic. Every stud sensor has limitations and you need to use some measure of common sense before drilling. The biggest cause of mis-reads is if you happen to start the calibration procedure when you are on, or very near, a stud. If so, you’ll get spurious readings. It’s a good idea to check twice, and drill once (to borrow from the “measure twice, cut once” mantra).Small nitpicking issues – the velcro on the back works well on smooth walls, but can snag on textured walls. Covering it with tape helps, but it would be nice if the velcro was removable. Also, the hole for marking the spot is a bit small – large pencils will not fit. Minor issues, however.Love the foam case. Makes it easy to keep the unit secure and all the parts in one place. The laser level works very well. Easy to see the line in daylight. Would be nice to have a vertical line as well, but the model that has that from B&D does not have a stud sensor function. All in all, a great product and a fantastic value at the sale price of $28!

This works very well to help find the stud.
This is a great stud finder with a great leveling part too. This is my second one to buy!

Great for DIY—but With Minor Quirks
This BLACK+DECKER Line Laser with built-in stud finder is a fantastic tool for light home improvement projects. I’ve used it to hang shelves, mirrors, and picture frames, and it made everything quicker and more accurate. The auto-leveling feature is super handy — the laser quickly adjusts itself and projects a nice, level line. The stud finder works well for both wood and metal studs and even detects live wires, which adds a layer of safety I really appreciate. The design is compact, lightweight, and easy to use, even if you’re not particularly handy. It’s perfect for quick jobs around the house. That said, I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because:The laser line isn’t very bright in well-lit rooms or during daylight — it’s better for indoor, moderate-light conditions. The stud finder can be a little inconsistent if the calibration isn’t just right — takes a bit of getting used to.The mounting pin it comes with could be sturdier. It works, but don’t expect heavy-duty hardware.Overall, this is a great value for the price. It’s not pro-level, but for everyday home use, it gets the job done and saves time. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone doing DIY decorating or light remodeling!

A must for anyone hanging anything.
While I was gone my wife decided it was time to do some decorating. She couldn’t manage to figure out how to hold the regular floating bubble type level we have an decided to wing it instead. She must have a lazy eye based on how crooked EVERYTHING she hung was. This laser level was the solution to that problem. It’s simple to use and throws a nice clear red line. It’s wife proof so to speak.I’d give it more stars but one of its features is a stud finder. I find it to be close to worthless and certainly untrustworthy. It could just be my old house and its dry wall which is no doubt filled with asbestos but I doubt it. If you were to believe the stud finder you’d have 9 inch wide studs…which you’d then completely miss, or only nick, when you attempt to drill/nail into it.Also it’d be awesome if it had an option for a vertical beam. There isn’t one, though they didn’t claim there was…it would just be better if there was.

This laser cross level was bought as a gift. The recipient was delighted and used the level to clear a site and set up a new garden shed. The site was cleared with a shovel, the laser isn’t that powerful!!! Accuracy and measurement features were absolutely fine and the laser is easily visible except in direct sunlight, which is to be expected.

This item for the price is terrible, unable to locate studs and the laser is so feint it’s unusable. I don’t understand what the point of this is
