The meter seems to do what it’s supposed to do and the reviews bear that out. It appears to be fairly accurate, it’s easy to use. It’s not going to provide the same results as a $600 meter but I don’t need that; I only need to know whether and how fast my wood is drying and the dryness compared to other wood in my shop that I know is stable and dry.My deduction of a star is based on the fact that the meter is difficult to read in bright sunlight where some of my wood is stored. The box suggests that the screen can be lit but am unable to find a switch do so. A lit screen would be preferable to the flashlight of which I have no use.My other criticism is the instructions are in gray 2 point type and the buttons printed on the page are blackened out an impossible to read. It wouldn’t cost much in paper or ink to make instructions legible. When buying this meter, a magnifying glass would be another good purchase if you don’t have one.In short, it works, it’s basic, but under some circumstances both the screen and instructions are hard to read.

Works well
I used this to find wet spots in the ceiling when the roof was leaking. You have to be a little careful because sometimes it thinks metal in the wall is water (like a stud nail, or the metal bullnose on a corner). Still, it’s usually obvious when that happens, and you can move the meter to check. This gave me piece of mind during a few rainstorms. I would recommend it if you’re worried.

Great Little Tool – Accurate, Easy to Use, and Affordable
I originally bought this to measure moisture levels in my Cali Bamboo Mocha Eucalyptus 9/16″ solid flooring — and it worked perfectly for that. I’ve also used it to check plywood moisture on an exterior wall from the inside, and to locate a hidden damp spot behind drywall (see attached photos). I liked it so much I bought a second one as a gift for a friend a few months later. The green backlit display is clear and easy to read. A great and inexpensive little tool that gets the job done!
