Great tool for tongue and groove planks
For the price, these things worked a charm. I had previously used one of the tapping blocks with the hook on the end to be close to the wall. I broke it trying to tap the T&G together. For my latest floor I bought these and they are excellent for the planks at the end of the rows and the last two rows along the edge. I’m glad someone invented them.

Not easy to apply pressure unless handle is Down
Update: after placing this review, the seller reached out to me and we resolved the issue. The customer service is very good and easy to work with which is important for online sales. I’ve also come to the realization that my application of the clamp maybe a less frequent use. If you’re just using this clamp to compress a single row at the very end, they will work fine. But if you’re trying to get pressure and smoosh row against row as you come against the wall, they still do not work in my opinion. The company offered me a refund or to send me the other type clamp that I had already had that they also made and that was the option I went with. Their version was better than the original one I had and worked fine.. I’m changing my review to five stars not because the clamp now works better, but it can work for one application and more so for the customer service I received. These look great but the only thing good about them other than the looks is the rubber rapping to protect the floor. They simply don’t have enough leverage unless you loosen it and ratchet it in small increments, you cant tighten it when the handle is basically up you can only do it when its near the base at the end the stroke. But even if you manage that they don’t hold because once you let go even if it clicked in, the play allows the wood to retreat. This is difficult to describe in words. My suggestion is to get one of those brass looking ones with a ball handle, works great but you need cardboard or something underneath to protect your new floor. I needed more and opted for these orange ones but think i must return they don’t work well enough. unless you don’t need a-lot of pressure, Im installing engineered hardwood gluing and nailing. The nails are deforming the tongue so I need more pressure even after redressing the tongue.

Must have for floor installation
I DIY hardwood floor installation a lot. I wish I’ve purchased these years ago. These tools are of superb quality and they have good protection on the parts to avoid damaging floors by accident.

Solidly built tool. Heavy metal construction with strong springs (even came with replacements). I used this to help put my spare bedroom flooring in and it worked like a charm. It only has a full working length of 7 and 1/2 inches or something like that but I would remedy this with using a piece of 2×4 which helped my get the second to last row in place (did not have to use my hammer so close to the wall). It does provide ample amount of force, which unfortunately ended up damaging a bit of the gypsum wall behind it due to its lack of surface area on the flat bit, but luckily, I was able to conceal that with the trim. After that one time, I started using some 1/4 inch rounded steel stock to prevent that from happening again. All in all, I am impressed with this tool and I do recommend!Thank you for reading my review! 🙏

If you’re doing flooring, you definitely want one of these tools. Normally the last few rows by the wall are a pain, since you can’t really get in there with a hammer or pry bar to press the boards tight without risking scuffs on the wall or damaging the boards unless you’re using additional blocks. With this jack it’s just a matter of pulling the handle to presses the boards tight – way easier and quicker then fussing with blocks and a crow bar. It’s well build and a great deal/value compared to competing products.More detail:It’s really solid – heavy gauge steel, not the thin cheap stuff you sometimes see with other budget jacks. Welds are strong, paint is decent, and it even comes with a storage bag which helps prevent it from nicking other tools when it’s in you box. The ratchet feels smooth and satisfying – no slipping, and just a flick to release it. Quality is much better than I expected at this price point. If you’re new to flooring, just be careful when using it. This thing can apply enough force to crack or dent a board if you’re careless. I’d recommend putting a long slim block between the jack and the flooring so you spread out the pressure, and the same for protecting your wall/baseboards— definitely use some scrap wood or cardboard as a buffer.Specs & Features:heavy-duty steel, pinned shaft ends, and strong welds (not spot welds)double offset ratchet teeth for extra holding power90° hook design lets it get into narrow expansion gapsstrong clamping pressure and auto-locks so it won’t slip backFinal THought – this is one of those tools that easily pays for itself in the hour of a project. The quality is much better than i was expecting at this price point, and while it’s not perfect (could use bumpers, maybe a slightly longer reach), it’s compact, solid, and works well. If you’ve got a big hardwood job coming up, or even a small one, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick one up – well worth it. (NOTE – ONLY ONE INCLUDED – NOT TWO)
