Stud Scan Detection
This stud locator has 3 stud scan modes. Deep Scan Mode scans through 2 layers of drywall up to 1.5 in. (38 mm) deep. DeepScan Mode is a higher sensitivity scanning mode that should be used when there are extra layers of wallboard or paneling. To minimize false positives and/or finding other objects further behind the wall that may not be a stud, always start your scan in the 0.5in. or 1 in. StudScan Mode first.
NOTE： As Stud Scan Mode can detect the center of both wood and metal, after you detect the center of an object, Please Use Metal Scan to determine if the reading in Stud Scan mode was a wood stud or metal stud.
Metal Scan Detection
JAXWQ wall detector can locate metal studs in StudScan mode, DeepScan mode, and Metal Scan Modes. Since JAXWQ stud finders are looking for a change in density behind drywall, not a particular material, in StudScan and DeepScan Modes the detector will react to metal studs the same as it would for wooden studs.
Wire Warning Detection
Wire Warning detection indicates the presence of live, unshielded electrical wiring up to 2 inches (51 mm) deep. For Safety, in all modes, this wall scanner always detects and indicates the Live AC Wire.
Note: WireWarning Detection works in both StudScan / DeepScan / MetalScan Modes. The WireWarning Detection Icon will flash when live, unshielded wires are detected.

Accurate, easy to use, good value.
Easy to use stud, metal and live cable finder with a clear bright screen, comes complete with a battery so it can be used immediately. It appears to be a durable product. I purchased this to locate wood studs, live wiring and a gas pipe that I knew were behind the wall so that I could mount my T.V to the wall. I took some measurements of how it performs in locating wood studs, it did locate the wiring but its accuracy was not precise but sufficient to know the general area where the wiring was (probably my bad as I am a newbie to this product) but the point is that I was able to determine what I needed to know in order to mount my T.V safely and sturdily. For a budget instrument it worked as expected.

Pretty nice stud finder, not a miracle tool but does what it advertises pretty darn well. Could be constructed better but seems fine for the price considering what the other options are. Only works up to a certain depth so make sure you know that since something could be hiding in your wall past that point even if it says there’s nothing there. Decent product, I’d buy it again unless I wanted to spend (quite) a bit more on something better.

Avoid!! I used this like an idiot for a year. It does find the studs, but it takes several passes and patience. You need to calibrate then go over the wall several times because it will sometimes indicate a stud at a different place. I learned that about 70% of the time it agrees with itself and that’s usually the stud. I finally gave up and bought one at a big box home improvement store and OH MY GOD the quality and accuracy and time saved gave me so much joy. Why oh god why did I waste so much time with this terrible product. What would normally take around twenty minutes with this product to swipe, scan and then mark. Only to swipe, scan and see the mark not agree SEVERAL TIMES over only to have a new, better product do it perfectly each time was infuriating.

Watch a YouTube on how to calibrate it, then get to using. Worked perfectly for me. I installed a 55in TV for the 1st time as a rookie.

Easy to use!
This stud finder is so easy to use! All you have to do is select the depth, put it on the drywall to calibrate, then slowly drag it until you find the stud. You then move it until it reaches the center of the stud and mark it.This takes the guesswork out of finding the stud and accurately drilling in the center of the stud.I recommend it if you are on the fence.
