Rapid 5000004 Hammer Tacker “R311 Ergonomic”

They got it right!
I’ve always liked Rapid’s products because of their durability and design. Previous models had the back load mechanism which I wouldn’t get latched right and the spring would send it off the roof down in the bushes. They came out with the no lose parts model which I loved but it was so hard to open I gave up on it. This model solved that dilemma by adding a easy release button. I don’t see how this stapler could be improved, it has everything a contractor could want.

Do not waste you money
Overpriced PIECE OF JUNK!!! Do not waste you money. I’ve used tackers half the price that do a much better job.Although it is built of heavy duty materials and seemingly high quality construction, this tacker has some serious flaws.First and foremost, it jams constantly. I struggled with trying to use this for 2-3 hours. It was nothing but infuriating. When it works, it works well; however I had to open it and undo jams every 2 to 5 minutes. Not exactly a productive day. I was doing insulation and my partner easily outdid me 6:1 because he only needed to reload, where as I had to constantly stop and fix the tacker.Secondly, Rapid boasts that this is built for heavy use in construction. This could be true, as it is thick gauge steel and soundly built. Where I disagree, is that there is a fatal flaw in the loading mechanism. It is designed so that the spring loaded plunger cannot be removed (I’m assuming this was done so that it doesn’t shoot out like on some other brands I’ve used). The problem is that if it gets dropped, the plunger can release, but cannot separate from the heavy steel body. In my case, the plunger unloaded and the weight of the body caused the plunger to bend when it hit the ground. Now, the plunger will not even go back into the body. Thankfully, this was designed so that I don’t need to waste any time finding the spring plunger and getting back to work; Instead, I just get to throw the whole thing out and go buy a new one. Definitely not a good compromise.I’ll never buy another product from Rapid.

These Things are not Good!
I work in construction as a home builder and we use hammer staplers for fastening building paper over sheathing. I decided to try the 311 and purchased two at the local lumberyard. Big disappointment! Both of the staplers began to jamb almost immediately and I ended up having to take both of them apart to repair them before the afternoon was over. Bad design I would guess, but come on, these things should drive thousands of staples before they give you any trouble. How did these even make it on to the market?

Der R311 ist ein richtiger Brocken, der auch für die härtesten Anwendungen genug Wumms hat. Alle Teile lassen sich zerlegen und auch ersetzen, das Magazin hat eine ordentliche Kapazität. Allerdings ist er für mich kein Allrounder, denn zum befestigen von dünnen Folien (z.B. Dampfbremse im Dachstuhl) ist er auf Dauer zu schwer, wenn es auch praktisch möglich ist ihn dafür zu verwenden. Trotzdem sehe ich ihn eher auf dem Dach als unter dem Dach, dafür ist er unschlagbar.

Super simple design, well built with tidy welds! I see this tool lasting a very very long time! Only con is it doesn’t hang in a hammer hook on a tool belt.
