These were developed a few years ago and designed to aid you in pouring your mud set floor in the correct slope to the drain. Anyone who’s done a few of these by hand knows how despite being ridiculously picky when you do the mudset, when you come back with tile, there’s going to be a dip you accidentally left, or one side that wasn’t pitched right. every. single, time. his is meant to solve that issue and make a more factory perfect angle from all directions. the pieces are left in the mudset after the pour. The pieces have holes so the mortar bed will seep through the pieces and not produce a cold joint in the mudset. They are nice strong plastic pieces meant for single use. They function as intended and after you get the hang of setting it up, are fairly easy to use. The directions were ‘ok’ but I figured it out since I’ve done so many showers. The size easily adjusts to just about any shower dimensions. This particular one handles up to 36″ x 60″ which is also the same size as a regular residential bath tub, so if you are removing an entire tub and making it a walk in shower, this should fit. Unfortunately, Most of my showers are 42″ x 60″ or 42″ square. Most people these days are making them larger in width, so this isn’t a perfect fit out of the box. If you’ve done showers before, you can make it work. if you are new, this may create more headaches than it solves (with a larger shower) I’d also like to say that I checked the Depot price, currently $42.28 (SKU # 1000023519) and this is $39.99, so you’re saving almost nothing and then waiting for it. I unfortunately don’t see any real value for the cost to order this online, sight unseen for anyone.

Just like Quick-Pitch
I have used a quick pitch product you can get at the big box orange store on multiple shower floors. This is just like that. The only difference is this brand is calling it a pre pitch while the other brand the pre pitch is the first layer and much thinner and then you use the quick pitch standard kit on the top layer. So the name is confusing as a pre pitch is typically the first mud layer and tapers down to nothing at the drain where this is the next layer where the drain sits up on the included ring. The price of this is about $5 less than you would pay in the big orange store. Overall a decent product but took off a star due to the confusing name pre pitch.

Best way to slope a concrete shower pan
Oh this is a definite must for concrete shower pans and proper pan drain angle, you can cut to fit and is super easy to install for the perfect angle to make sure your new Shower doesn’t puddle or pool it is plastic and feels like its a standard quality that I’ve used in the past on other remodel projects.
