Pin-type And Pinless Design – The design of both pin-type and pinless options caters to different user preferences. The pin-type design provides users with specific numerical readings for pinpointed spots, while the pinless design allows users to quickly scan the surface of the object, identifying wet spots.
Specialized Modes – Softwood Mode/ Dry Wall Mode / Cement Board Mode / Hardwood Mode / Mildew Index Indicator Bar / New Longer Handle – Ergonomically designed handle for easy gripping

Seems to work well
I was a bit skeptical about this meter, the the reviews and price looked good so I bought one. I tested it out on stacks of lumber I milled at different times and it did show matching dryness to the order they were cut. I used both the pinless and pin modes and they both seemed to correlate to wetness and dryness of the wood. Although the pinless mode just gives a line graph of wet and dry. Overall seems to work, although I don’t have a way of verifying accuracy.

Moisture Meter – Does What is Supposed To And Is Fairly Economical
NDI 7 in 1 Pin-Type and Non-invasive Moisture Meter: Since I just purchased this very recently, I cannot comment upon the durability or longevity of this meter. I purchased this because of a roof leak that damaged a ceiling, and I wanted to get an idea of how wet the drywall was. This meter is easy to use. It has the non-invasive mode, where you simply put the device up against the surface and hold it there. Then there is also the pin mode, in which two sharp pins stick into the surface or object. To use the pin mode, you take off the cover, and CAREFULLY remove the sleeves from the two pins. The device has 9 levels of dampness, from dry (green) to wet (red). Aside from testing my damaged ceiling drywall, I tested it on several other surfaces, to get a general idea of its accuracy. The device appears to be pretty accurate. It is approximately the size of a medium sized flashlight, not heavy and easy to hold. So, so far, so good – this meter seems to be a handy item to have around your house – since plumbing, roofs and siding can all give you problems from time to time – alas.

Compares Pinless to Pin Moisture Readings
What attracted me to this moisture meter was the fact that it includes two types of sensors. It has both pin sensors and pin-less sensors. Since pin sensors are always going to be more effective, I like using them when I am working with materials where the little puncture holes won’t be a problem. Often though, I am testing items that are best not pierced by a pin. With the pin-less sensor option, I can get a decent reading without harming the surface of the material I am testing. Decent reading is the key. Having both sampling options, pinless and pinned, allows you to compare. I have found that the readings in the same material vary between the two methods. To go along with this convenience, this moisture sensor has advanced electronics. The digital display is large and bright. I don’t have any problems reading it outdoors and it is quick and easy to determine the results. The color-coded scale is helpful. Green is dry, then it goes to yellow and finally red with a high moisture reading. The display also allows you to clearly see the material type the moisture meter is set to. This helps a lot, especially when working with different materials at the same time, which is the case more often than not. This moisture meter is well-built and I expect it to be durable and to last a long time. I definitely recommend it as a valuable device to work with on the jobsite.

Not accurate at all
I have a known leak in my house. I wanted to check other areas of the house for leaks too. I put it right up against the drywall with the leak which was wet and it said it was dry. Instant return.
