This tape measure provides a digital readout for both the physical tape as well as the laser pointer. I have a name brand laser measurer for work that I use all the time (it’s full of functions too), but sometimes the physical tape is easier to use. The neat thing about this tape measure is that it provides a digital readout for the tape measure as well, something I haven’t seen elsewhere. I’m used to reading the measurement off the tape itself, which can still be done with this tape, but I found myself deferring to the digital readout instead as soon as I started using this. I did glance at the tape as well the first few times just to make sure the readout was correct. While this tape measure does provide the ability to do lots of calculations, I plan to use it mainly for just measuring. I think the area function is one that I may use occasionally for square footage.As I said earlier, I have a laser measurer at work and I’ve already found multiple applications for using this one at home. The tape is 16 foot, but the laser is good for nearly 200 feet (196 exact). The laser appears to have plenty of intensity. The display is LED so it is easy to read in all conditions (not LCD).The thing I find confusing and inconvenient is having to press the release button to pull the tape out. To me, this makes it more difficult to use and requires both hands (one on the device and one holding the tape) so that the tape doesn’t return unexpectedly. I’m used to being able to pull the tape out and having the device automatically keep the tape from retracting since I don’t push the button when pulling the tape out. With this one, you have to be careful to keep it from retracting: just a slight bump and the tape retracts.Also, this tape is rather bulky and heavy. It’s a 16 foot tape, but it’s bigger than a 25 foot tape.

Wasn’t what I was looking for. But seeing it in person it would be what someone else is wanting
Nothing wrong with the tape measurer. It’s just not the 1 I was looking for.

Not good for USA measurments
It is in euro mode so it isn’t easy everytime I need to use it I have to calculate the USA inch and feet so I should have gotten the cheaper old fashioned version

Perfect for fast measurements in large spaces when you don’t need perfect accuracy.
The key question is, how accurate is it? This instrument combines both a conventional tape measure, a long one, plus the laser diode measurement, plus a digital readout for the tape measure. That means you have three ways to measure a distance. The simple button configuration means that this is a highly “modal” device. By changing modes, the function of the buttons also changes. This is a bit clumsy and means that for maximum effectiveness you need to keep the manual with you. OR, you can simply use the tape in the conventional way. Build quality is good, but the reliance on plastic means that the first time you drop it might be your last. So again, how accurate is it? Once you learn that the laser is not measuring from the front of the device, but from its REAR, you can check its result with the actual tape, and find that there is an error, almost a constant error, of perhaps 5/16th inch. So you’ll not want to rely on this laser if you are, say, cutting wood. But that’s why the physical tape is in your hand too. As you use it, you’ll find yourself adeptly switching between various measurement modes according to your need for accuracy. The unit is heavy and clumsy to handle, and even though it has a lanyard provision, it’s not adequate. What it needs instead is a sturdy belt clip. Still, for the money, it’s worthwhile. But do shop around — there are MANY of these models available. This is a good one, but make an informed decision.
