Metal rewind Arm and tough ABS case. It is similar in size to a felt tip pen line. Keson twisted synthetic line picks up and puts down more chalk than our precision line. American made quality.
I have tried most every chalk line available. I was a fan of Tajima, but they are not durable. I bought a Keson 2 years ago ago and by far it is the best chalk box I’ve ever used. We snap literally thousand of Lines every year for thin brick installation and its still going strong. Line is thin diameter nylon which stretches so you can pull long distances and get a straight line without breaking. Pro tip… I use the Tajima dye with this box instead of traditional chalk. it leaves a crisp, not fuzzy line and remains even after a rain. If your particular about snapping precision lines and want to buy an American made product, you won’t regret purchasing! one.

Chalk it up
Haven’t had a chance to use it yet at work but just taking it out of the packaging, seems to be a quality chalk line. I did wind it some and it winds smoothly.

Great chalk box
I have a half dozen of these. 3 permanent 3 not. Nice shape in the hand. Nice stainless hook stores in side. Clean tight line. Quick retrieve. Smooth gears. Use Keson chalk. Made in USA.

Not very strong
Snaps a clean line. Holds chalk pretty good. The weak point is the gears. They broke after a couple weeks of framing. Might be fine for DIY. But I would not recommend this to a concrete guy or a framer.

Quality product made in USA
Framing carpenter by trade and I have to say I like this chalk box so far. It holds a ton of chalk and is a bit larger than a Milwaukee box. I like that it’s made in the USA. It does everything it’s supposed to do and it does it as well. Tajima quality but made in the USA so I will buy this again. It does have that same style of “stretchy” line like the Tajima but I don’t see it as a down fall. If I had to pick one thing I don’t like is that it’s partially made of plastic but I knew that before the purchase so I won’t hold that against it

Not the best
Can’t keep tension on the string due to handle style. Basicly have too hook to nail for any thing horizontal orvertical

Finally found a better option
I have been throwing Irwin chalk lines away within weeks, sometimes days of getting them, made in china now made to fail. I bought this and boy have I been pleased. It hasn’t been put through years of use yet obviously but it lasted longer than any of the new ones at the box stores. Made in USA! Line is a bit heavy for some things but the quality is high enough that I will probably order a few more, some with the finer line.

Have used this line for about a month so far. With excellent results. No issues.Snaps a nice line,no jams.Frame for a living, so snap hundreds of lines a week. Most chalk lines will only last a week.(irwin).. Good value.

Worked for a little while then the string kept braking. They put a really low quality string in this. If you can change it out I recommend doing so. Did not hold up long. I was using this for framing in the begining of the winter. Snapping lines for the foundation of a house. Also used it alot on plywood. If you are not using it everyday could be a great tool for you. But if you are planning on buying this for work and to cut plywood or snap long lines I would get something with a better line.

Liked the caulk load zone string is good but the gears are garbage
