    Great fans!
These fans look great and work very well! I bought one for our covered porch and we liked it so much, we also put them inside the house. The large blades move a lot of air and we leave them on medium speed. They are sturdy and very quiet. For the money, I think these may be the best value available.

    Great fan for the money
Love this ceiling fan! Easy to install and looks great in our outdoor gazebo. The chain isn’t very long so had to buy a different one so I could reach it. Love the beach feel of the blades.

You can safely ignore the negative Air Flow concern reviews. The solution is in my review.
I was reluctant to order this fan because of all the negative reviews about it not moving air. I ignored those reviews, purchased and installed this fan on an outdoor gazebo. To my disappointment, the fan was barely moving any air even on the highest setting! I made sure the fan was not in reverse mode but, it still didn’t help. I was very close to uninstalling and returning the fan. To make a long story short, I figured out the directions I followed in the instructions had me put the fan blades on upside down. The fan blades are not reversible on this fan so you must make sure the Palm design is facing down as shown on the packaging (The instructions will have you install them upside down!) If you are one of the unhappy owners of this fan unsatisfied with the air movement, simply flip the blades over and thank me later. 😊

Just the Thing for a Quiet Breeze
The Honeywell Palm Island has many things to commend it. It is certified for outside use. It is handsome. It goes up quickly and easily. It is quiet. What about the complaints that it moves little air? That’d be a killer if true. When I first turned mine on I reacted similarly to some others here. It was a cool, still, morning and I should have felt some serious cooling standing under it — yet I didn’t. Oh no! Then I turned it down low and took note of the blades and their direction of rotation. No wonder! They were moving the air upward.Sliding the side switch downward I turned the fan on again. Ah! What a difference! Not a blast of air, mind you. Ceiling fans in my experience never create such. But a nice gentle cooling breeze — just what I’d want sitting under it on the porch on a hot, still, afternoon.I gave the fan a four star rating because I suppose that high speed on a four speed fan could be a bit higher — or the blades designed to move a bit more allowing the use of lower speeds for less cooling. But for my own use and expectation I think that this one concern really will not prove to be so. And the fan’s quiet is likely part and parcel with that design limitation.Bottom line is that my initial feelings are very positive and I DO recommend the unit. Now for that first really hot Summer day…

    Looks great – so quiet!
My husband did the installation. Based on the number of expletives he used during the process , I’m going to guess the install was 3 stars. As far as functionality and style, I give this a 5 out of 5. It’s very quiet – and circulates the air without the awful downdraft that I hate in most fans. (Really… I don’t want hair blowing in my face like I’m on a jet ski). I did not order the remote – so can’t rate that. The pull chain is better for me. (one less remote to keep track of). I ordered the darker color, and was very happy with the way it compliments my furniture. The size is perfect for a cozy lanai – would also work well in a tiki bar. For the price, this little fan is a great buy. Highly recommend.

A Good Fan But Not Without Some Issues
This is a very nice fan, well packed, very quiet motor, spare bolts and washers and very good instructions. But as with all things, nothing is completely perfect. I bought two fans, one actually was perfect, the other had 3-6 marks on every blade (see photo). The marks bothered me so I contacted Amazon and they quickly sent me a replacement…every blade on the replacement fan had one small mark, maybe 1/16″ (but I’m going to stick with this one as the marks are hardly noticeable). You might think, “hey, I’ll order 2-3 fans and just pick out the best blades”. Wrong, I weighed the blades and they were up to .25oz different; all the blades in a set weigh the same but the weight from set to set are different. Just for the heck of it, I tried one blade from a different set and got a lot of high speed wobble.PS…the blades have two usable sides; one looks like a palm frawn, the other looks like Rattan (see photo). Because of the weave pattern of the Rattan side, any defects are virtually invisible. Now for the elephant in the room based on other reviews; does this fan move much air? Yes and No. In my case, the fans are mounted outside on the lanai ceiling which is 8’ off the ground. They are mounted with the standard included 4” drop rod. At the highest two speeds, these fan moves a decent volume of air but the pattern of the air flow is different from most fans. Maybe because of the big frond leaf fan blades, the air is thrown down but also out in a wider circle 6-8 feet from the center and not just straight down as many fans do. I suspect that because of this wider circle, the air doesn’t feel as forceful as if it were blowing straight down on you.The installation of the fan, lifting it onto the hanging bracket looks like it will be tough with the 4” downrod and tight canopy fit, but it is actually surprisingly simple and easily fits right into place. The fan while operating and the motor itself…whisper quiet and virtually no wobble at the highest speed. Here are some tips to make your installation go more smoothly:1. There is not a standard ceiling hanger canopy diameter for fans so if you are replacing a fan with a wider diameter cover, you might have some ceiling patching and or painting to do before you hang the new fan that may have a smaller diameter cover. Hold the canopy up to the ceiling and see how things look before you start taking down the old fan.2. If you are replacing a fan and have newer construction with a red, white, blue, black and ground wire, use you phone and take a photo of the connections so you can duplicate them with the Honeywell fan (in other words, their included instructions of tying the blue and black together may not apply)(see photo)3. The Styrofoam packaging which has channels for the fan top and bottom allow you to use the packaging to hold the fan with the hanger side facing up to you so you can attach the down rod and canopies without the fan rolling around the table.4. Loosen the five orange plastic fan motor securing tabs before you hang the fan…it will make it a little easier to get them off when the time comes.5. THE MOST IMPORTANT tip…it will be darn near impossible to attach the blades without a helper if you don’t do this. Attaching the blade requires that you put a rubber blade insulator between the blade hanger and the fan blade, then hold the blade and insulator in place above your head while putting the bolts through the blade assembly into the motor…not possible with only two hands standing on a ladder. So, take some blue tac (not very much)…and use a little under the rubber insulator to hold it in place…maybe two small dabs…and take a little more and make a very thin rope and rap it around the head of the bolt and press it into place in the fan blade assembly. Now with the blue tac holding the insulator and the bolts in place, you can hold the fan in place with one hand and use your screwdriver to secure it onto the motor. Conclusion:This is a good looking fan (see photo) that appears to be made to withstand under cover outdoor use. You get a palm and a rattan blade option and the fan is virtually silent when operating. If you are looking for a hurricane force down draft directly under the 52” diameter of the fan, don’t buy it. If you can be happy with a nice downdraft at a 72” diameter…there is a good chance you will like this fan. I would buy this fan again.

We had it installed under the pergola in our garden. We cannot use the maximum speed as it is cery noisy and lower settings do not really produce much breeze. Quite disappointed with this product.

I love this fan!!! Not only is it beautiful, but it works wonderfully. I did read all the reviews before deciding to give it a try and I disagree with anyone who says this doesn’t push air down. As long as the reverse switch is in the down position, it will push air down and keep you super cool! In the winter we will put the switch in the up position to circulate air if needed but it’s in our outdoor gazebo so we will see. It’s 31 degrees right now and the fan was definitely keeping me cool. Some more positives to note: it’s very quiet, it was quick and easy to install and it’s a great size. I love the wide blades. I also appreciate that the blades are made from plastic, which will make for super easy cleaning since it’s outside. Love love love

Great product. Easy to install. Looks great. Gives that southern palm tree look! Super quiet. Blades are perfectly balanced, no need to add weights. The weights are just a terrible reminder how fans 20years ago would wobble… not this one. Perfect balance right out the box.
