This is honestly the nicest vacuum I’ve ever used. I woodwork in a room that also doubles as the home office and purchased this to get the sawdust and chips under control, and it’s fantastic for that purpose with plenty of power that makes cleaning up a breeze. It is *shockingly* quiet. Substantially quieter than a typical average household vacuum and even noticeably quieter than the handheld dustbuster we have. It has immediately become our go-to household vacuum in addition to its intended workshop use… it’s both much more powerful and way quieter.

Quiet Power in a Small Package
Great little shop vac. I don’t own a wood shop, but every now and again I need to vacuum up the aftermath of a project (a.k.a. my mess). This is actually the quietest shop vac I’ve ever used—it doesn’t hurt your ears or scare the dog. It’s also nicely compact without being too small.

It sucks, a little, but it doesn’t blow!
The vacuum comes with a 2 piece wand, a floor attachment with a brush, another attachment that was designed for smaller or perhaps wet pickup, and detailed instructions. It also uses bags, optionally, the filter can be washed and cleaned, and there is a net bag to tie all the small stuff together so you can lose it all at once. I tried tying the bag to the handle but it drags the floor.Moving air makes noise. The intake makes noise and the exhaust makes noise and in a turbulent system, the more air you move, the more noise you make. That is just physics. The type of attachments and hoses you get with a shop vac mean turbulence. But this is a quiet shopvac and physics requires tradeoffs to make it quieter.So, first thing I notice is, no exhaust. Most shopvacs have a place to attach the hose to the exhaust. This one does not have any such attachment, exhaust air runs through some baffles to reduce sound. I suspect that the typical exhaust port is a direct channel from the motor to the ear of the user and by baffling that escape they can reduce the sound.Second is it does not such as hard. I have owned shopvacs before and they had much more suction power than this unit. I am sure it could vacuum a wet carpet and help to dry it. I am not sure that you could use the vacuum as an impromptu sump pump.The day after I got this vacuum, I was cutting a cardboard template in the laser cutter. I got the settings wrong and the cardboard caught fire. I don’t cut anything flammable in my laser unless I am there watching it, so I grabbed the cardboard, and pulled it out but it seems it burned underneath for a while. Ashes everywhere. So I got to use the shopvac. It made short work of the ashes and some car litter. Now I saw someone make a diverted for his shopvac so he could vacuum up marbles. I don’t think this vacuum could do that. But for normal messes it is fine and, well, for us, quiet is more important.

Small but powerful
This replaced a 12 gallon, 5 hp Shop-Vac. Which was big and clunky and noisy. And died.Being over 80 and wanting something easier to handle, I opted for the DeWalt 5 gallon Stealthsonic. It’s great. Admittedly, it doesn’t hold as much, but it’s more maneuverable, has more suction power, and quieter than what it replaced. Having to clean it more often is a small price to pay for more convenience and power. I’m not the only one who is pleased: the caregiver sneaks it out of the shop to do her vacuuming.

Had to return back to supplier as vacuum came with American plug, so was unable to use. I contacted Dewalt and on there recommendation was told to return. Supplier issued a refund.
