I liked the first one , so I bought another
I am updating both of my bathrooms and of course wanted to upgrade the exhaust fans in the process. This fan worked so well in the first room and got a second unit for the other bath. This fan is so quite I can barely hear it while standing the the room with it running. It moves so much air I can stand in a half open doorway and feel the air flow.It offers several mounting options and is very doable for any competent DIYer. Be sure to check available clearance as it may be a bit bigger than some older units. Can be uses as new work or retrofit. Basic tools are all that should be required but each case is unique so be prepared. The housing unit is hard wired to the porwer supply so be advised. The fan can be easily removed from the housing for cleaning or repair. The cover is held in place by two springs that allow for quick removal and installation. The grill is low profile and looks good.

Quite and cost effective fan for replacing builder grade fans
I replaced 2 builder quality fans with this one. One in a big master bath and one in a guest bathroom, both on the second floor with attic access. The one in the master bathroom was way undersized. These fans are roughly a 9 1/4 inch square with a 4″ exhaust i believe and the one I had in the master bathroom was 8″ with a 3″ exhaust duct. Previously after my wife and I showered in the mornings there was condensation that would be dripping off the walls near the shower in the morning and it was hard to talk to each other if one of us was in the walk in closet attached to the bathroom. After installing, the noise reduction is noticeable and there was no longer condensation. We are also going from probably a 50 cfm fan with 5-6 SON rating would be my guess (builder grade). I also had to buy a 4″ to 3″ reducer for the vent which seems to be fine and cut the drywall out which was easy. The second bathroom was a little more difficult. You’ll notice it mounts via the wing tabs to a stud. I didn’t look at my previously installed fan but it was centered with metal brackets between the studs. So i had to make a wood bracket to space it out. It is also less noisy but it is a smaller bathroom so the fan noise is a little bit more noticeable then our master bath install. Still way less noisy but something to point out if you are looking for something that can’t be heard in a smaller bathroom.I’m happy with the fans. They are way less noisy then the build grade fans, move lots more noise, and didn’t cost 120 per unit like the more expensive fans. In the end, its a fan for the bathroom and I don’t need something completely quite. The shower and other bathroom noises are louder then the fan and they move more air then the crappy builder grade fans while not costing 120 per unit for the same CFM.For reference I also installed both from the attic. On the second floor mine were both screwed into the studs for support. Overall, not a hard install but you will need romex pass through nuts, screws to install the fans to the joists (i used the existing fan screws), some ducting tap to seal the ducts, a reducer possible and maybe some zip ties for the duct insulation. That’s what i can recall off hand.I am also not a professional for reference, just a DIY’er.

Great customer service from Broan, very quiet, install can be tricky
Overall I’m satisfied with this fan.Pros:* It’s a good value* It’s quiet* Airflow is good and has eliminated moisture in our small bathroom* Broan’s customer service was excellent and friendly over the phoneCons:* Depending on where you are standing in your bathroom you will be able to see through the fan grill into the fan* The install can be challenging if you are installing it between two floors and do not have access from above. Expect to install a block as a backing plate if you are mounting it to a composite wood I-beam floor joist (would be nice if this was in the instructions). More importantly, there are no mounting holes on the opposite side of the fan box. This would be a nice additional feature that would compensate for any mistakes made by the home builder or whoever installed your original fan on the wrong side of a floor joist… I drilled 3 holes on the opposite side of the fan box (in a mirror placement of the factory side) and it mounted fine. This saved me from having to cut a new hole in my ceiling, hang new drywall for the original fan hole, install a new vent, and run new ductwork.

Easy to install, works great!
This seems to be a fantastic product. It’s an awesome value for the money.I installed two of these in separate bathrooms (one 110 and one 80) very quickly as retrofits and couldn’t be happier. Will definitely buy again if the need arises at a new house or if our last fan goes out. This one is not noisy at all, especially compared to the 110.The only con, I would prefer it to be just a touch louder.Last night I heard my wife giggling from the hallway outside the bathroom.I tried to explain that there was a leaky sink, and she wasn’t having it.I tried to tell her that I was watching Free Willy on my phone, but that didn’t work either. The truth was, the Mexican food we had for dinner was blowing it’s way through me like a freight train out of a snowed-shut mountain tunnel, and she could hear every moan and spew. But it works great! Showers don’t fog up the mirror anymore and while you can hear the activities from the other side of the door, the odor doesn’t seem as dangerous.

This is spposed to replace the Broan QTRE090C 90 CFM according to Broan’s website but it is way too small. I had to return and buy another one.
