Great Product with a Classy, High-End Look
This American Standard tub filler is a fantastic addition to our bathroom. The design is sleek and elegant, giving the whole space a more upscale feel. It feels solid and well-made, with smooth operation and great water flow. Installation was straightforward, and the finish looks just as good in person as it did online. Definitely a great choice if you’re going for a classy, modern look.

    Looks great!
After trying unsuccessfully to buy this locally and sending the faucet back two times, we were very pleased with this one.

    Nice looking piece
Very nice looking piece. Was able to buy similar faucets and shower fixtures for less from another company. I’m giving 5 stars for ease of installation because it was installed by plumber without hearing cuss words. I do want to mention that it will occasionally let loose with a small quick burst of water after filling the tub which can be startling.

    hard to install
The design of the T-connector makes it very difficult to install. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this before attempting installation and had already applied glue and tape, which made returning it impossible. Should have included more details about the product on website.

    Nice Faucet, whacky supply threads
Faucet seems nice. But have been struggling with the supply lines. If you have access from below the floor, you will only have to get used to the idea that you will be putting a connection needing a rubber washer inside the floor. But if you don’t have access from below, or don’t like the idea of a fitting similar to the US compression type fitting inside the floor, read on.This faucet has 2 supply lines permanently connected to the faucet. They extend about 1.5″ below the subfloor you mount the faucet to. You might think that’s not a big deal because you can just put a extension to make the hoses longer to be accessible via a access hole under your freestanding tub. Not ideal, but is better than ripping up ceiling below (if that is even an option). But hold on, extending the supply line isn’t easy.First the manual says it is a 1/2″ supply line (I would think the minimum for a large tub filler. But the fitting on the end of the supply lines is actually a british G3/8″ fitting. That’s right, the American Standard faucet has a 3/8″ fitting on the hose.If you are not familiar, the G type fittings are not tapered like standard us Pipe threads (a little teflon tape or pipe goop and you have a solid lifetime connection). They instead have a straight thread and the male fitting pushes against a washer inside the female side. Sort of like an outdoor hose.So they do give you a “T” type connector that accepts the G3/8″ fitting as an output, and a standard US pipe thread as an input. So you can connect up to US type plumbing. But unfortunately the “T” is so oddly shaped that it is too big to go through a hole that could be covered up by the faucet escutcheon. You might think, that you could just get a G3/8 extension hose, or better yet, a G3/8 to US Pipe thread adaptor. But these both are extremely hard to fine. Big box stores won’t even know what this is.Every wholesale plumbing supply I went to said basically the same thing to me “why would we carry British fittings in the US”. One laughed out loud when I said an “American” Standard faucet had that size fitting on their tub filler. And then they also said, why would you put a 3/8″ fitting on a tub filler. So if you don’t mind looking silly, you can go through the motions to try to find adaptors in stores. Or resort to buying jenky imported products (China, not Europe).Regardless, it is quite an adventure, and still have to have the connections buried in the floor. I think I did find some that will work after about 4 hours of messing around…..and living with a rubber washer in the floor.Oh, and American Standard (according to their Customer Support line), doesn’t carry the adaptors or fittings.

The price is right and it’s a good brand where parts are available compared to other no-name plumbing fixtures. The instructions are perfectly clear not that you really need them. Everything fit great and the finish is flawless. My only gripe is the hoses that come out of the unit were barely long enough to attach to from the ceiling below. Including tile, my floor is about 1-5/8 thick and the nuts from the steel flex house barely protruded from the opening. Anyway, with a lot of swearing I was able to get it connected. Would be nice if the hoses were another inch or two longer. I actually tried to have extensions on hand for this reason but our local plumbing supplier was not able to match up whatever size the nuts are on the steel braided hose.Having said all that, I would definitely buy it again.

Product looks great, and price was fair on Amazon.ca. However I ran into problems due to lack of information in the installation manual and lack of technical support from American Standard.I called American Standard several times and waited for hours for customer support and technical support. I found the customer support team and technical support team to have very limited product knowledge. They were unable to tell me a pipe thread size…ie 1/2″ NPT. They were unable to provide any solutions and were in a rush to end the call. The actual product and the manual have different images, there are no part numbers. The installation manual does not specify a minimum install distance from a wall, the hand shower hose comes with a check valve that is not shown in the manual, the hose is not that flexible to it needs to be installed a certain distance from a wall. Instructions on how to loosen the diverter should be in the manual. Some of the leaked from from installation. American Standard should provide better technical support. I emailed them and requested for support and parts, I have not received a call back or reply. Horrible customer service. I would not recommend buying American Standard again. Grohe and Moen, replied to my concerns within 24 hours and shipped out warranty parts within 5 business days. That is how it should be.
