Good alternative to traditional post brackets
Two concerns and two benefits …CONCERNS: 1) This bracket pair is not as strongly made as some 4×4 bases I’ve used, being stamped from a relatively thin-gauge steel. In my professional opinion, this solution is fine for non-corner posts but may not be the best for corner posts that have side pressure on them. 2) The two-piece design makes it easier for you to install a post in a non-perpendicular (not 90-degree) angle … a benefit if your horizontal surface is not level or is uneven, but offering the opportunity for error, too. Be sure your post is positioned properly before you bolt it in to the brackets!BENEFITS: 1) This bracket offers more flexibility than traditional one-piece 4×4 mounting solutions … you can use it to mount other sizes of timber such as 3×4, 4×6 or 4×8 as well as 4x4s. 2) As mentioned earlier, it offers adjustable mounting where the mounting surface is not level. 3) The two pieces can be installed separately for alternative applications as “joist hangers” or other joint reinforcements when building pergolas, fences or play structures.

The Hardware (screws) are terrible and you should not use them.
DO NOT USE THE HARDWARE THAT COMES WITH THESE BASES. The bases themselves are fine and work Fine. Seem to have a very good finish and Expect them to be very durable. THE SCREWS that come with the bases are terrible. Every Screw Stripped the head before getting halfway into a Cedar post. Spend more time Pulling out stripped screws and going to the Hardware store to buy Decent hardware than I should have. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED> 3 Stars for the hardware, 5 Stars for the actual bases.

Too tight for standard 4×4, poor QA on bends
Poor fitment to 4×4 posts, the bent edges are over-bent so these will not slide on standard 4×4 PT posts, you will need to chamfer edge of post and beat them on with a hammer. Ordered two boxes, first box of six was ok, second box of six all of them were too tight to use on standard lumber. Do not recommend.
